Jillian Lauren, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, avoided jail time after being granted a two-year mental health diversion by an L.A. judge on Thursday (September 25). The ruling is related to an incident where she fired a gun at LAPD officers during an April 2025 manhunt for hit-and-run suspects near her Eagle Rock home. Although not involved in the initial chase, Lauren fired at officers who were searching neighboring yards, leading to a chaotic gunfire exchange caught on body camera and home surveillance. Wounded by return fire and charged with felony negligent gunfire and assault with a semiautomatic firearm, Lauren pleaded not guilty and will avoid prosecution if she complies with conditions including counseling, random drug and alcohol testing, and a firearm ban. “We think this was the right resolution,” Lauren’s lawyer, Hilary Lee Potashner, said of the judge’s decision. The bestselling author, married to Shriner since 2005 with two adopted sons, has not publicly commented on the incident. (Consequence of Sound)
