Jaafar Jackson ‘Embodies’ King Of Pop In First Look At ‘Michael’ Biopic

A first look photo from the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic shows his nephew Jaafar Jackson draped in one of the late super star’s most iconic outfits.

Jaafar Jackson will play the lead role in the biopic Michael, which is scheduled for released globally on April 18, 2025.

In the image, 27-year-old Jaafar is posing in MJ’s “Man in the Mirror” look as he sings on stage wearing white button-up over a white V-neck and black pants, with his hair tied back into a low ponytail.

It was photographed by Kevin Mazur, who followed Jackson with his camera all along the King Of Pop’s career.

“When I walked onto the set, I felt like I’d gone back in time and I was walking into the stadium to shoot the tour. Seeing Jaafar perform, I thought, ‘Wow, it is Michael,’ ” said Mazur.

He added, “The way he looks and acts, his mannerisms, everything – he’s Michael Jackson. For anyone who didn’t have the chance to see Michael perform live during his lifetime – this is how it was.”

“With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael,” said the film’s co-producer Graham King. “He embodies Michael in a way that no other actor could.”

Antoine Fuqua directs the film that chronicles the life and music of MJ.

He said, “We have assembled an incredible team of artists for this project – hair and makeup, costumes, cinematography, choreography, lighting, everything – and some who knew and worked with Michael are reuniting for this film.”
